Then eject your Kindle and remove the cable. ![]() Then connect the Kindle via a cable, and drag and drop the FIRST update that you are missing from your downloads folder to the Kindle folder. You will have to download the updates on to a laptop or pc. If you have missed several updates, you will have to upload each update ONE at a time. And if your Kindle failed to update before March 2016, it would be disconnectedfrom the internet and thus unable to update itself. I had to find this out via a random article on how older Kindles are being disconnected from the internet. I had this exact same issue and I am SHOCKED that Amazon don't make this a more obvious path to follow! If still facing issues, contact a technical support service at 1–800–986–4764 to guide you through the troubleshooting process. However, if the problem still persists, try resetting your e-reader to factory settings (this solves almost all problems). Check if your internet connection is working properly, in case it is not and if the problem doesn’t get solved by a ‘router reboot,’ contacting your internet provider will be a good idea.
